Arsenal, Chelsea Linked Striker Onyekuru Equals 10-Year-Old Nigerian Goals Record In Belgium
Henry Onyekuru bagged a brace in Eupen's 3-2 victory over Kortrijk in the Belgian First Division A playoffs on Saturday evening at Stadion am Kehrweg.

In doing so, the 19-year-old etched his name into the history books as he is now Nigeria's joint-top scorer in a single season in the Belgian top-flight, equaling the record held by Patrick Ogunsoto.

Ogunsoto netted 20 goals for Westerlo during the 2006-2007 season, beating the previous record set by Germinal Beerschot's Tosin Dosunmu (18 goals) in 2006.

After he was brought down in the area, Onyekuru scored his 19th league goal of the season from the penalty spot to give Eupen a 2-1 lead in the 38th minute.

On 80 minutes, the Eupen sensation tapped in his second of the evening after a free-kick was whipped into the box by Christian Bruls.

Several teams in England not limited to Arsenal, Chelsea, Southampton, West Brom and Bournemouth are reportedly keeping tabs on Onyekuru ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

He was nominated for the Ebony Shoe, a prestigious award previously won by Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba and Godwin Okpara, but did not finish in the top three.
