Super Eagles Stars Omeruo, Igiebor, Rabiu & EFCC Get FCT Football Awards
Published: December 08, 2016Former NFF President Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, former FCT Minister General Jeremiah Useni, Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo, has been listed among those to receive the first Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCTFA) football award holding on Monday 12th December, 2016.
The event is slated for the National Press Centre of the Radio House Abuja.
In a statement in Abuja, the FCT Football Association Chairman, Musa Saeed Talle, said the award is a deliberate effort of the FA to bring together the past and present actors in Football and to forge a better future for the game in the Federal Capital Territory.
He added that the timing of the Awards to coincide with the 40 years of FCT (1976-2016) and 12th December movement of the seat of the Federal Government from Lagos to Abuja on 12th December, 1991 is important and worth celebrating.
The FCT Football Association will issue certificates and other Awards to individuals and organizations including Distinguished Senator Jeremiah Timbut Useni (Former Minister of FCT), Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Osita Izunaso, Justice Moses Bello (First Chairman of FCT Football Association), Alhaji Sani Lulu Abdullahi, Former President, Nigeria Football Federation among others.
Organizations like the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja Municipal Area Council, Supreme Court, Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Police and others that have contributed to Football development will receive awards.
Super Eagles Kenneth Omeruo, Nosa Igiebor, Rabiu Ibrahim, Sincere Seth, Godwin Saviour, John Lazarus are among players to get awards in view of the fact that they were Abuja grassroot players.
Chairman of the FCT Football Awards Organizing Committee, Godwin Bamigboye added that all is set for this epoch making event and commended the FCT Football Association Board and members of the committee for their resilience despite paucity of fund at this period of recession.
