Overused Defender Oboabona Explains Why He Did Not Play Against Bursaspor
Published: December 06, 2016
Nigeria international Godfrey Oboabona has explained why he was not handed game time in Rizespor’s 2-1 loss to Bursaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Monday, December 5.
This would be the second time this season that the central defender has not started a league game, as he was unavailable for selection against Basaksehir as a result of injury.
“I played a game on Thursday in the Turkish Cup against Inegölspor and the coach decided to rest me in this game, ” said Oboabona to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I am not injured, I am fine. ”
Oboabona lasted the distance against Inegölspor and assisted goalkeeper Gökhan Akkan to post a shutout in a 5-0 win over the opponents.
