Official : Prolific Nigerian Striker Joins MLS Club New York City FC
Published: December 05, 2016With a statement published on their official website, Major League Soccer club New York City FC have announced the capture of the signature of Sean Okoli from FC Cincinnati.
The Nigerian-American frontman was one of the breakout stars of the 2016 United Soccer League, ending the season with 16 goals from 29 games to win the Golden Boot in the division.
A product of Seattle Sounders, Okoli numbers Orange County Blues and New England Revolution amongst his former clubs and spent his formative years with Washington Premier FC.
The Washington-born striker trained with the United States U18 and U20 national teams in the past, but remains eligible to turn out for Nigeria.
In the 2016 season, he was named the Most Valuable Player in the USL and named to the Team of the Season.
