Super Eagles Goalkeeper Move To Atletico Madrid On The Brink Of Collapse
Published: October 20, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that FC Ifeanyi Ubah netminder Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s dream move to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window might fall through.
The Super Eagles reserve goalkeeper recently confirmed to a South African television channel that Los Colchoneros were interested in his signature, and is hoping to complete his transfer in the coming months, but there are new developments.
It would be recalled that Atleti were handed a one-year transfer ban by FIFA for breaching transfer rules regarding the signing of minors, but have waived their right to freeze the ban, meaning they won’t be able to sign any player in the winter transfer market.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah had negotiated with Atletico Madrid in good faith, as they were confident that the ban will be overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Second-tier Cadiz are the other club in Spain showing an interest in Ezenwa but have not yet agreed personal terms with the former Sunshine Stars shot stopper.
