Lack Of Bite In Attack Worries Nigeria Coach
Published: October 05, 2016In his post-match comments, Nigeria U17 coach Bala Nikyu admitted that his side lacked bite in attack during Tuesday’s Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup match with England’s Lionesses.
Despite having 32 attempts, the attack led by Rasheedat Ajibade and Mercy Omokwo got cold feet when it mattered most and failed to score for the second game in a row.
“We performed well, but in football dominating the game and winning individual accolades don’t count. What matters is to score and to win. I think we did well in attack, ” Nikyu told fifa.com.
“We played a defensive game against Brazil and we lost because we made a few mistakes that we’ve sorted out now.
“We were more adventurous today but there are still a few things we need to iron out before we take on Korea DPR. ”
The Flamingoes destiny is still in their own hands, nonetheless, with a 2-0 win over North Korea on Saturday guaranteeing them a quarterfinal spot for the fourth straight tournament.
