Chelsea Striker Russo Confident Of England Chances Against Nigeria U17s
Published: October 03, 2016Ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Nigeria, Chelsea striker Alessia Russo believes the Lionesses are in high spirits following their dramatic 3-3 draw with North Korea in their FIFA Women’s U17 World Cup opener.
With the Asians set to bag their first three points of the tourney, the 17-year-old spoiled the party with a 94th minute equalizer.
“A draw is a much better platform going into the Nigeria game than a loss,” Russo told the fa.com.
“We just have to prepare in the right way, as always. We need to put in another good performance and build on what we did against North Korea.”
The Flamingoes will confront the Europeans at the Prince Mohammed Stadium, Zarqa, and a defeat could see the African powerhouse crashing out of the competition.
