Fanendo Adi Becomes 16th Player In MLS History To Score 15 Goals In Consecutive Seasons
Published: September 18, 2016Super Eagles hopeful Fanendo Adi netted his 15th goal in Major League Soccer in the 2016 season as Portland Timbers defeated Philadelphia Union 2-1 at Providence Park on Saturday.
With the scoreboard reading 1-1, the Nigerian grabbed the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute after he was set up by Mattocks.
Adi’s strike versus Union was the fourth consecutive time he has scored in home matches, and he became the 16th player in the history of the MLS to manage 15 goals or more in consecutive seasons.
The 25-year-old is presently the fourth top marksman in the American top-flight, behind Wright-Phillips, David Villa and Giovinco.
Whilst the Timbers number nine played the full game against Philadelphia Union, Amobi Okugo and Gbenga Arokoyo were not involved.
