Nigeria Coach Receives Good News From Arsenal Coach Wenger On Iwobi
Published: September 09, 2016Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Iwobi is in line to feature in the Premier League in Saturday afternoon’s clash against Southampton at the Emirates.
The attacking midfielder missed the Gunners last two games in the English top-flight plus the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania after suffering a thigh injury on the opening day of the season.
“Iwobi is back in the squad. The only one who is not ready is Aaron Ramsey,’’ Wenger told reporters, according to arsenal.com.
“He is on the a good way, but not completely ready for Southampton or Tuesday.’’
The news will be sweet music to the ears of Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who is expected to announce his squad for the World Cup qualifier against Zambia away in the next two weeks or so.
Portuguese-based midfielder Etebo and Iwobi were not called up for the game with the Taifa Stars because there had been doubts surrounding their fitness but both players have now resumed full training with their respective clubs.
