Man City Defensive Prospect Kigbu Happy To Play For England Rather Than Nigeria
Published: September 06, 2016Manchester City wonderkid Ashinme Kigbu was pleased to be part of the English U18 national team that won a mini-tournament on Monday, September 5.
The defensive all-rounder, who had been on the radar of the Nigerian Federation, made his first-ever appearance for the Young Lions against Italy but was an unused substitute in yesterday’s win over Israel, having lasted the distance last Thursday.
“International break over, great to end it as tournament winners @England ðð¾, ’’ Kigbu tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.
Born in Jos, Kigbu moved to England at the age of two along with his parents, and this made him eligible to represent England.
He had a brief spell at Manchester United before joining their bitter rivals in the 2011-2012 season.
