Dream Team Alternate Players Dimgba, Yusuf Paid $400 For Hotel, Feeding Expenses
Published: August 17, 2016Dream Team VI alternate players, Stanley Dimgba and Yusuf Mohammed, who returned to the country on Tuesday paid $400 out of their own pocket for a hotel room and feeding expenses after being told to head home from Brazil.
The Sports Ministry ordered the players and officials not accredited for the Olympic Games to return home because the expenses they incurred were not budgeted for.
“A day after the Denmark game (Sunday), when the squad returned to Sao Paulo, Yusuf and Dimgba were told to take care of their own feeding and hotel expenses before leaving Brazil, ” a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“To save money, the two players shared a hotel room, they paid $300 for the room and had to eat outside the hotel premises.
“Approximately $100 was spent on feeding by the two players. ”
There had been concerns regarding the fitness of Oghenekaro Etebo and Junior Ajayi few days before Dimgba and Yusuf departed Brazil, but coach Samson Siasia decided against bringing in a replacement.
