Update : Nigeria U23s To Arrive In Brazil Seven Hours Before Kick-off Against Japan
Published: August 03, 2016Nigeria U23s will no longer fly out to Manaus, Brazil ahead of Thursday night`s tie against Japan at the 2016 Olympic Games, allnigeriasoccer.com understands.
Players and officials of the team were at the airport in Atlanta as at 2315 hours Nigerian time only to be informed that the plane is too small to take the delegation.
The Federal Government is in contact with the team and has hired a Delta Airline flight that will depart the United States at 0700 hours on Thursday morning.
With the plane expected to land in Manaus at 1400 hours on Thursday, the players will have only seven hours to shake off their jet lag before entering the pitch to face Japan.
According to the Media Officer of the Dream Team VI, Timi Ebikagboro, players will be well taken care of by the medical team on the flight and they are all happy with the new arrangement.
He added that the players were not too comfortable with the size of aircraft so made an appeal which the Federal Government listened to.
