Chelsea Stopper Cahill Recollects West Ham Fan Akabusi Won Bronze At Olympics
Published: August 02, 2016Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has been answering questions about the Olympic Games from the editors of the official website of the Premier League club.
The England international was six years old when 400m hurdler Kriss Akabusi MBE, who represented Great Britain, won the bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
Asked about his earliest Olympic memories, Cahill told chelseafc.com : “Kriss Akabusi winning a bronze medal in the hurdles in Barcelona in 1992. That was a great moment. ”
Now 57, Akabusi sprinted at the European Athletics Championships,World Championships in Athletics and Commonwealth Games before he retired.
The West Ham fan was born in Paddington, London to Nigerian parents.
