Nigerian Defender Pens New Four-Year Deal With Chelsea
Published: August 02, 2016Nigerian young star Fikayo Tomori has penned a new four-year contract at Premier League club Chelsea, the official website of the Blues has informed.
Tomori, who is an England U19 international and eligible to represent the senior team of Canada internationally, has been rewarded with a new deal after starring for Chelsea’s youth teams last term.
“It’s good for me, a confidence booster knowing I did well last year and being rewarded with a new contract. Now I’ve got to improve and show my worth,” Tomori told chelseafc.com.
“It’s been good to spend the pre-season with the first team, to learn from the older players and know what it’s like to be on a tour and see how they are preparing for the season.”
Aged 18, Tomori made his competitive debut for Chelsea on the final day of last season against Leicester City, replacing Branislav Ivanovi in the 60th minute.
He is training with the first team of Chelsea ahead of the start of the 2016-2017 campaign.
