Greuther Furth Rescue Nigeria U23 Defender Obanor As NFF Refuses To Pay Travel Expenses To USA
Published: July 16, 2016Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria Professional Football League side Mountain of Fire FC terminated the contract of Erhun Obanor on Friday, paving the way for the Dream Team VI star to complete his move to German club Greuther Fürth.
Prior to linking up with MFM in March 2016, there was a clause inserted into the defender’s contract that permits him to end his association with the club and return to his parent club BJ Foundation once they are given two weeks notice.
In view of the agreement and the memorandum of understanding (MoU) entered into between the parties, there will be no financial obligation or financial claim from the Olukoya Boys.
Just as this website exclusively reported, Erhun Obanor departed Germany in the early hours of Saturday to link up with the Nigeria U23s at their get-together in Atlanta, United States.
If not for the magnanimity of Greuther Fürth, perhaps, Obanor would have been stranded in Germany, as the Nigeria Football Federation refused to pay for his travel expenses to the United States.
The German club have picked up the tab, and he will first travel to Munich from Fürth, before flying to Atlanta via Istanbul.
