Golden Eaglets Screening Was A Jamboree; Departure Of Amuneke, Ugbade Exposed Manu
Published: June 19, 2016A Nigeria Football Federation insider who witnessed the Golden Eaglets screening exercise has called it a jamboree, stating that intermediaries, who wanted their players in the team at any cost, took over the camp.
It is believed that Manu Garba’s inadequacies were exposed following the departure of his lieutenants Nduka Ugbade and Emmanuel Amuneke from the squad, with the former Zamalek star now the coach of the Flying Eagles.
“The screening was a jamboree, agents took over the screening. Adams Mohammed was there, in fact he had a permanent seat, Shira and Kumbi were there to influence Manu Garba, ” the top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“There were other agents I can’t identify all of them that I saw at the Fifa Goal Project. To a large extent I respect Amuneke, he has decorum.
“During the U20 screening, these agents were not there, he was very strict but the Golden Eaglets was a funfair. ”
He added : “The U17 is doomed to fail if Manu continues coaching the team, the screening was a charade.
“The problem Manu has is that he has been exposed. His former assistants Amuneke and Ugbade were the ones doing the work.”
World champions at U17 level, Nigeria will tackle Niger Republic in the second round of the 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations qualifiers in August.
