AFC Wimbledon Coach Full Of Praise For His Number Ten Akinfenwa
Published: May 19, 2016AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley reserved special praise for Adebayo Akinfenwa following his strike against Accrington Stanley in the Football League Two Semi-final, Game 2 on Wednesday night.
The Dons have set up a meeting with Plymouth Argyle in the playoff final at Wembley after playing out a 2-2 draw with Stanley at Crown Ground, with Akinfenwa registering his name on the score sheet in the 68th minute after coming on as a substitute.
“We went with three up front to be brave and got Bayo’s goal after wonderful work from Barry Fuller,” said Ardley to the official website of AFC Wimbledon, afcwimbledon.co.uk.
“Bayo’s goal was typical of him and it put the tie in the balance.
“I just felt with our energy that if we kept on driving forward we could go on and achieve what we wanted to achieve.”
Including the playoffs, Akinfenwa has scored seven goals in the division this season and was on target against Plymouth Argyle in April.
