Giwa Coach Ogunbote Praises His Boys After Beating Kano Pillars
Published: April 07, 2016Technical Adviser of Giwa FC of Jos, Gbenga Ogunbote has praised his boys for beating Kano Pillars in one of the match day ten games of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Wednesday at the Rwanda Pam Stadium in Jos.
Ogunbote, who spoke with journalists in a post-match conference, said he knew the game was going to be a very tough call but thanked God Almighty for the victory and also praised Pillars for giving them a good fight.
“Kano Pillars are a very good side and if the caliber of players they paraded here today must be taken into consideration as well as the quality of their coaching department you would agree with me we played a very good side.
“A side that has severally played in the African Champions League is not a small side.
“Beating them today is a huge accomplishment, I must thank God Almighty and also thank my boys for a job well done today,” Ogunbote stated.
He also praised the fans for turning out in their numbers and assured of more improved performance in subsequent games.
Giwa FC beat Kano Pillars 2-0 thanks to a goal from Sunday David and an own goal from Pillars centre-back Zikiye Jonathan.
The match which was played on a waterlogged pitch was Giwa’s first ever victory over Pillars in Nigerian Football.
Giwa’s next game is a Premier League hometown derby with Plateau United FC on Sunday at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
