Sports, Good Component To Complete Education - VC Lead City Varsity
Published: March 20, 2016The Vice Chancellor, Lead City University Prof. Olufemi Olubanjo has described sports as a good component to a complete educational process, saying that why the institution is striving to provide the best facilities for sporting activities within the campus.
The don who made the call yesterday while addressing students during the closing ceremony of the annual VC Sports Tournament held at the main-bowl of the ultra modern sports complex of the institution frowned at the dwindling fortune of the school’s sports in the country.
Prof. Olufemi opined that the role of sport in educational process student cannot be undermine as the definition of sport states “an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
“Active involvement of students in sporting activities takes their minds away from many social vices, unproductive ventures, and ungodly acts which are detrimental to their future”, he noted.
The students took part in ten sports during the week long annual sporting event which had entered its 8th edition according to the director of sports of the fast growing private university, Lade Aloba.
The Department of Physical and Health Education came first at the end of the tourney that cut across Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, squash, Athletics, Swimming, Table-tennis and Football.
