Fit Again Ike ThankGod Targets Champions League With Enyimba
Published: February 02, 2016
Former Nigeria international Ike ThankGod has explained why he turned
down a move to Sunshine Stars, Abia Warriors and Akwa United in favour
of a switch to Nigeria Professional Football League champs Enyimba of
Aba.
Enyimba have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer market and have bolstered their defense with the capture of ThankGod, who has penned a two-year deal with the two-time African champions.
“I joined Enyimba because they were persistent, they have been asking me to join them since. Akwa United, Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors needed me but I want to play in the CAF Champions League,” Ike ThankGod told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The experienced defender is hoping to assist the People’s Elephant to CAF Champions League success and is confident they can retain their Premier League title come the end of the season.
“My target with Enyimba is to win the League, Champions League and the Federation Cup. I hope they can do so because they have bought a lot of good players and the coach is good too,” added Ike ThankGod.
The former Warri Wolves stopper just recovered from a knee injury and could only make the bench in Enyimba’s 1-0 win against his former employer on Monday in round two of the Super Four.
According to ThankGod, he has been training with the number 28 kit ahead of the new season.
