Plateau United Still Awaits Official Communication from The NFF On Controversial Decision

The management of Plateau United FC of Jos has urged the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, to kindly communicate the Club on the decision to promote Adamawa United to the Nigeria Professional Football League ahead of them officially so that they will prepare ahead of their next line of action.

In a statement released by the Club through its Media Officer,  Albert Dakup, the Club said without an official communication on the decision of the Organising and Disciplinary Committee, O&D, of the NFF, the purported judgement is regarded a rumour.

“Though we heard Barrister Chris Green in disbelief telling the whole world on a national radio that the reason for the decision of the O&D was because all the match officials regulated the game without their wrist watches and how that concerns Plateau United is what remains baffling to this day, ” Dakup wrote in the statement. 

“Even if a decision has been reached to award our game which we deservedly won in Katsina to our opponents we expect the NFF to be civil and communicate us on their decision because until that happens what we have been hearing and reading is still a rumour to us”.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Club, Bitrus Yilgor Bewarang, who is also the President of Nigeria Football Coaches has remained as cool as a cucumber on the issue.

In a chat with allnigeriasoccer.com on Friday, he laughed off the issue and describes happenings as very strange but not totally unexpected owing to past experiences particularly within the NNL where Clubs get their promotions from the boardroom.

He said as far as he was concerned Plateau United FC is Premier league bound.

Couple of weeks ago Plateau United FC of Jos won the Nigeria National League division A1 after beating host Spotlight FC of Katsina 2-1 in Katsina to finish tops on 29 points after 14 games ahead of second placed Adamawa United who also won their last game beating Supreme Court FC of Abuja 2-1 in Abuja also securing 29 points but with inferior goals difference.

In a rather controversial circumstance the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, decided to award the three points to the hosts arguing that the referees officiated the game without watches.
