PFA Chairman Says Decision To Promote Adamawa United By NFF Is A Huge Joke
Published: October 19, 2015
The Chairman of Plateau Football Association, PFA, Hon. Sunday Samson
Longbap has described the reported promotion of Adamawa United Football
Club of Yola to the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, by the
Organising and Disciplinary Committee, O&D, of the Nigeria Football
Federation, NFF, as tales by moonlight and a huge joke, urging Nigerians
to disregard the information as it holds no water.
Longbap in a chat with allnigeriasoccer.com said it is unthinkable that in the 21st century Some Persons are still bent on making Nigerian Football a laughing stock before international sporting circles, saying the purported judgement of the O&D which has not been communicated to Plateau United officially is a Kangaroo decision by a circus get together.
Longbap continued “first and foremost, the petition filed by Adamawa United and Spotlight FC of Katsina doesn’t concern Plateau United” .
“Even if it concerns Plateau United, the process for a healthy protest has been abused because we expect Spotlight to have lodged a protest at the pre-match and post-match meetings against Plateau United which they did not do and we wonder why the O&D must entertain this kind of case”.
Longbap, who is a member of the NFF Security Committee, also debunked insinuations the contentious game between Spotlight FC and Plateau United started 13 minutes behind schedule in Katsina, stressing that the information was communicated to Emma Zira, the Chairman of Adamawa United by the Chairman of his supporters Club and in turn, Zira has been misinforming authorities of new time the game kicked off in Katsina.
Longbap said the game started four on the dot but finished 7 minutes after the match between Spotlight FC of Katsina and Adamawa United which was played same time in Abuja and wondered why the O&D should rely on information passed by a biased person and non-staff of either the NNL or the NFF to take a decision against Plateau United.
Longbap concluded by saying the Chairman of the O&D, Bar. Christopher Green and His deputy, Bar. Iyke Igbokwe are bent on destroying the good works of the present board of the NFF and must be cautioned.
Meanwhile, the administrator has urged the NFF to communicate Plateau United Football Club officially on its decision as well as the Plateau Football Association so that they would prepare for their next line of action because as far as they are concerned the decision which they saw on the pages of a national newspaper is still regarded a rumour.
Plateau United secured qualification to the NPFL after winning match-day 14 of the NNL division A1 beating host Spotlight 2-1 in Katsina and secured 29 points and plus 14 goals advantage but the NFF’s O&D rather promoted Adamawa United in highly controversial circumstances, basing their judgement that the centre referee did not use a stopwatch.
