Anthony Nwakaeme Pleased To Score Historic Goal Against Maccabi Petah Tikva
Published: October 05, 2015Hapoel Be’er Sheva striker Anthony Nwakaeme has spoken of his happiness at being the first player to score at the newly - opened Yaakov Turner Toto Stadium.
Having failed to find the back of the net in his first six games across all competitions, the Nigerian entered The Camels history books when he hit target in the fifth minute in their 4 - 2 win over Maccabi Petah Tikva on Saturday in the Premier League.
“I was not under pressure to score because I know the season just started, and if the goal didn’t come today, it will come tomorrow, ” Anthony Nwakaeme told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I was not disappointed I didn’t score a hat - trick. I am very happy to be first player to score in the new Stadium, maybe next time I’ll score a hat - trick.”
Compared to last season, Nwakaeme has found playing opportunities difficult to come by this term, with the game against Maccabi Petah Tikva only his second start, but he is aware he can’t the situation.
“Yes, you are right, I am not getting enough playing time like last season.
“I am not injured, it is just the decision of the coach and I have to respect it, ” the Hapoel Be’er Sheva number 9 added.
Nwakaeme arrived Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the summer transfer market from rivals Hapoel Ra’anana.
