Falconets Wallop Liberia In World Cup Qualifier
Published: July 13, 2015The Under 20 National Team, Falconets, produced a dominant display away from home to beat Liberia 7 - 1 in the first leg of their 2016 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier at Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Monrovia.
Yetunde Adeboyejo opened the floodgates in the 15th minute before strike partner Chinwendu Ihezuo increased the lead on the half hour mark.
Adeboyejo tapped in Nigeria’s third goal in the 36th minute but the home team managed to pull a goal back five minutes before the intermission.
The scoreboard changed again early in the second half when Yetunde Adeboyejo completed her hat - trick before Juliet Sunday struck in the Falconets fifth.
Amarachi Ojinma netted a brace in the closing minutes to give Nigeria a healthy lead ahead of the second leg in two weeks time.
