Flying Eagles Coach Manu Garba Claims He Did Not Collect Bribe Money From Prince Ogbonna But Ex Catania Player Insists There Is Documentary Evidence
Published: June 18, 2015Flying Eagles manager Manu Garba has vehemently denied reports that he asked for financial inducement from former Catania player, Prince Ogbonna before inviting his wards for the Nigeria Under 20s training camp before the World Cup.
Coach Manu Garba has threatened to sue Prince Ogbonna, who is Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) Sports Ambassador, for defamation of character, adding that he should provide documentary evidence of the =N= 500,000 (($2,500) cash deposit that was paid into a nominated account.
“This is arrant nonsense and a malicious story. I don’t know Prince Ogbonna and have never collected any money from anybody called Prince Ogbonna,” Manu Garba told allnigeriasoccer.com on Thursday morning.
“He should publish the name of the account, bank name, account number and date when he paid the money.
“I will sue him for character assassination. Please inform him and the whole world that I am not on Facebook.”
Allnigersoccer.com’s source has insisted that Prince Ogbonna has documentary evidence to back up his claims that Manu Garba was paid the equivalent of $2,500.00 to invite his players for a screening exercise but failed to honour the gentlemen’s agreement.
“Manu Garba sent the account number through his phone, and he has promised to return the money. The deposit was made by Ejike
“What is wrong with Manu that he is saying he doesn’t know Prince Ogbonna, one of the most popular sports figures in Nigeria?
“Manu should go and sue Ogbonna. The documents are in his house .Nobody is a saint, all coaches collect bribe for national team places,” the top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Investigations by this website revealed that the curator of the Flying Eagles, Mohammed, was fronting for coaches Manu Garba and Nduka Ugbade, and the bribe money is paid to his account before he delivers to his masters.
