Barcelona Starlet Boluwatife Balogun Expects Awoniyi And Sokari To Shine Against Germany
Published: June 10, 2015It was a hard one to call but Barcelona attacking midfielder Boluwatife Balogun finally admitted that European champions Germany are favourites to win the Fifa Under 20 World Cup clash against the Flying Eagles on Thursday morning.
However, the 18 - year - old La Masia Academy student has stressed that the Nigeria Under 20s should not be underestimated and expects the Manu Garba - led side to put up a fight and qualify for the quarter - finals.
“Germany are strong favorites in this tie, but it’s football anything can happen. For me it’s a 50 - 50 tie and the better team will win the game,” Boluwatife Balogun told allnigeriasoccer.com.
The former Lens youth - teamer reckons that Kalmar trainee Taiwo Awoniyi and Enyimba maestro Kingsley Sokari will play a key role at Christchurch Stadium in the Flying Eagles bid to progress to the last eight.
“The whole team have been playing well. Awoniyi again has showed that he is their talisman with two goals and two assists.
“Kingsley Sokari is also doing good with that goal against North Korea,” he added.
Boluwatife Balogun is eligible to represent Holland and France but has elected to play for Nigeria at international level.
