Liverpool Striker Asisat Oshoala Admits Falcons Are In A Tough Group
Published: June 08, 2015Liverpool striker Asisat Oshoala has admitted that the Super Falcons are in a tough group at the World Cup but fancies Nigeria’s chances of progressing to the knock out stages of the competition.
She was 4 years and eighth months old the last time Nigeria managed to qualify for the last eight of the headline football event in Fifa’s Women’s calender.
“We are in a tough group, but I think it’s going to be a good outing for us,” Asisat Oshoala told the official website of Liverpool, liverpoolfc.com.
“Having some tough teams in the group will really help the girls to prepare well. I don’t think there is ever a ‘cheap’ team in the World Cup.
For a team to qualify they have to be a very good side.
“In 2011 we didn’t qualify out of the group so it would be nice to achieve that, but I’m not going to say we just want to reach the knockout stages because the aim of every team is to win the trophy.”
The 20 - year - old was best player and top scorer at the 2014 Fifa Under 20s hosted by Canada.
