Chuba Akpom, Dominic Iorfa And Moses Odubajo Handed Starting Berths As England U20s Lose Unbeaten Run
Published: June 03, 2015For the first time at the ongoing Toulon Tournament, England Under 20s boss, Aidy Boothroyd, handed starting berths to Anglo - Nigerian trio - Chuba Akpom, Dominic Iorfa and Moses Odubajo - in Wednesday evening’s game against Mexico.
The Young Three Lions lost for the first time in 12 matches, suffering a 2 - 1 defeat at the hands of their CONCACAF opponents after conceding twice in the second period.
Arsenal striker Akpom would have put England in front in the seventh minute before Watmore’s15th minute strike but goalkeeper Manuel Lajud had no difficult stopping his shot.
The 19 - year - old failed to add to his two - goal haul before the interval, with his shot missing the target after being set up by Birmingham winger Demarai Gray.
Akpom and Odubajo lasted the entire distance while Iorfa was withdrawn three minutes from time .
England must beat China in their final group game and pray results go their way in their bid to qualify for the final of the tournament.
