Revealed : Emmanuel Olisadebe Had Offers From Juventus And Marseille Before Panathinaikos Move
Published: May 19, 2015Retired Nigerian - born Poland international Emmanuel Olisadebe has sensationally revealed that Polonia Warsaw blocked his move to Juventus and Vicenza before sanctioning his sale to Panathinaikos in 2001.
“Before I left for Greece in 2000 or 2001 ... Juventus wanted me.. He came an Italian manager, Antonio Caliendo, who had worked with Baggio, Dunga, Pasarelsa and Trezeguet, as with Boniek and Zmounta.
“It was he who brought the proposal from Turin. The problem was that Polonia had requested $ 8 million, ” Emmanuel Olisadebe told polskatimes.pl.
Also the former Jasper United striker stated that Marseille were interested in securing his signature but talks broke down when Panathinikos came with a bigger offer.
“It was good. The problem was money. Marseille were paying less than the Panathinaikos. Also in Greece had a good life.
“I thought I will do things well , but I was wrong. From France, it is easier to go to England than from Greece. I do not regret the past. I think that God has for all our projects,” he concluded.
After leaving Panathinaikos, Olisadebe went on to sport the jerseys of Portsmouth, Skoda Xanthi, Henan Construction and Veria before hanging up his boots.
