Eniola Aluko Named To England World Cup Roster
Published: May 11, 2015Mark Sampson , coach of The Lionesses, has named his 23 - player squad for next month’s Fifa Women’s World Cup, and there is a name on the list which should not be a surprise to Nigerians.
Chelsea star Eniola Aluko is one of the strikers that will be on the plane to Canada and will compete with the likes of Toni Duggan (Manchester City), Fran Kirby (Reading) and Lianne Sanderson (Arsenal) for a starting spot.
Manager Mark Sampson has selected 3 goalkeepers, 7 defenders, 6 midfielders and 7 strikers in the team.
Eniola Aluko is ten caps shy of making 100 appearances for England, and has scored 32 times since her senior debut against Holland in September 2004.
England have been drawn in Group F of the World Cup alongside France, Mexico and Colombia.
