Amkar Perm Defender Brian Idowu Explains Russian Heritage
Published: April 23, 2015Dark - skinned Amkar Perm defender Brian Idowu has opened his heart to his club’s official website on his link to Russia.
Born in St. Petersburg 23 years ago, he began his football education at FC Zenit St. Petersburg before joining Amkar Perm in 2010.
“This is a difficult question. How many times have I heard it, and the same time could not find an exact answer.
“Russian roots is from my mother. Her father was Nigerian and her mother - Russian. My grandparents met in Leningrad.
“Dad trained as an architect, and my mother - a doctor. I was born in St. Petersburg, and three years later the parents briefly moved me to Nigeria,” Idowu told fc - amkar.org.
Idowu last traveled to Nigeria in 2010, and he noticed that the living standards in the country have improved compared to when he lived there as a child.
