Nigeria Federation Says Super Falcons MUST Step Up Their Game In Canada
Published: April 21, 2015The Nigeria Football Federation has no doubt that the Super Falcons are the best female national team in Africa, but their previous performances at the Fifa World Cup leaves food for thought.
In the light of the foregoing, the local football regulator has urged the Falcons to step their game up at the Fifa World Cup in Canada.
“There has never been any doubt about your pre-eminence in the African continent,” stated Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi, the 1st Vice President of NFF.
“Out of the nine continental championships staged so far, Nigeria has won seven of them. You have also consistently qualified for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“However, your record at the FIFA Women’s World Cup is not good enough.
“Sincerely speaking, you have to forget what has been happening in the past and determinedly chart a new course at the finals in Canada this summer.”
The Super Falcons are in the so-called Group of Death at the World Cup, and will face United States, Sweden and Australia in the group phase.
