2023 African Cup Of Nations Will Held In June
Published: February 25, 2015FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke has hinted that the 2023 African Cup of Nations will be held in June instead of January and February.
The shift has become necessary because football’s showpiece event, the World Cup, has been tentatively fixed for November and December 2022.
That date should be ratified next month when the executive committee of Fifa meet in Zurich on March 19 - 20.
“Valcke questions why clubs should be paid compensation. Confirms African Cup of Nations will be moved to June due to 2022 winter World Cup,” BBC journalist Richard Conway said on Twitter.
The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has supported the proposal for the World Cup to be played in the last two months of 2022.
