No Sogndal Contract For Akinjide Idowu, Abdullahi Alfa
Published: July 14, 2014Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigeria youth internationals Akinjide Idowu and Abdullahi Alfa trained with Norwegian Premier League side Sogndal throughout last week, but it is unlikely they would be offered contracts after conclusion of tests.
Norwegian teams must pay foreigners a stipulated minimum wage, thus, it is very difficult for clubs to sign a player from the third world except he is identified as a special talent.
Both Idowu and Alfa represented Nigeria at the Fifa Under 17 World Championship held in United Arab Emirates towards the end of last year.
Akinjide Idowu trained with an unnamed club in Sweden in January but was not offered a deal when the trial came to an end.
Controversial Jos based agent Babawo Mohammed, who forces players to sign agency contracts with him or risk being dropped from the Nigeria youth teams, represents both players.
