Shola Shodiya, Joseph Okonkwo Shortlisted For MFA Award
Published: May 19, 2014Two Nigerian players in Malta have been shortlisted for the 2013 - 2014 edition of the Malta Football Awards.
For the best player in the Premier League, Birkirkara attacker Shola Shodiya will compete with teammate Paul Fenech and Denni Dos Santos of Valletta.
Experienced Fgura United striker Joseph Okonkwo is one of the four players nominated for the best player in the Second Division, and he is thrilled to get this recognition from the organizers.
“Thanks to god, my teammates and coaches that made it possible for me to be nominated.
“At the start of the season, our ambition was to get promotion and we achieved our target, ” Joseph Okonkwo, who has recommended several Nigerian players to Maltese clubs, told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Joseph Okonkwo netted 13 goals for Fgura United while Shola Shodiya scored 14 goals in 31 starts for vice champions Birkirkara.
The award ceremony will take place after the European Under 17 Championship being held in the Island Nation.
