Villarreal picked up their third win on the bounce after defeating Almeria 2 - 0 on Sunday evening at Camp El Madrigal.
The victory means the Yellow Submarine continue to make progress in the La Liga standings and are now 1 point ahead of Athletic Club in the race for the fourth Champions League spot.
The game started brightly for the home team, with Nigeria international Ikechukwu Uche grabbing his 12th goal of the season just after three minutes.
Three minutes before the end of regulation time, Bruno Llido extended the lead from the penalty spot.
In the next round of fixtures, Villarreal are guests to Real Valladolid.
