Gbenga Arokoyo Blames Referee For Red Card
Published: September 22, 2013Central defender Gbenga Arokoyo took the walk of shame in Mjällby's 2 - 2 draw with Elfsborg on Sunday evening.
The Nigeria international was shown a straight red card in the 24th minute by referee Andreas Ekberg for fouling goal-bound Lasse Nilsson in the 18 - yard box.
“The player deceived the referee by diving. The referee made a bad decision by giving me the red card.
“He regretted that and tried to compensate us. Ended up giving the other team a red too.
“ Everyone knows the referee made a mistake, I am fine with my teammates and coach,” says Arokoyo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Coincidentally, Gbenga Arokoyo was also dismissed just before the final whistle in the first round clash against the same opposition back in May.
The youngster has been cautioned 11 times in 31 Swedish Premier League matches.
