Stephen Keshi Invites Oboabona, Echiejile,Ogu For Ethiopia Clash
Published: September 20, 2013Stephen Keshi has named a strong squad for next month’s World Cup play - off match against Ethiopia.
There are no surprise omissions in the roster named by the Nigeria manager as he has handed call-ups to the likes of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Obi Mikel and Emmanuel Emenike.
Yet again, substantive skipper Joseph Yobo was not named in the 23 - man list released on Friday afternoon, which is not surprising as he ijust started training with Fenerbache after a spell on the sidelines.
Coach Stephen Keshi has overlooked Cologne’s Anthony Ujah, who has netted 4 times in the 2 Bundesliga this season.
But the gaffer has picked Rizespor new boy Godfrey Oboabona even though he has not played an official game for the Turkish club since his move from Sunshine Stars last month.
Sporting Braga left back Elderson Echiejile, who has been inactive since the start of the season, was also invited.
Despite playing only 11 minutes of club football since the start of the Portuguese championship, Académica’s John Ogu will be on the plane to Addis Ababa.
Africa champions Nigeria will face Ethiopia away on October 12.
