Fenerbahce Plan To Offload Joseph Yobo
Published: July 27, 2013With effect from the 2013 - 2014 season, there is a new rule in the Turkish Super League which states that clubs can not have more than 10 foreigners on their roster.
Vice champions Fenerbahce have exceeded their foreign quota by one as they have 11 foreigners on the payroll.
Sports daily Fanatik writes on its website that the number one candidate to get the axe is Nigeria skipper Joseph Yobo, whose performance for the Yellow Canaries dropped since he returned from the African Cup of Nations.
On top of that, Nigeria's most capped player earns approximately 2.3 million euros per season and he has two years before the expiration of his contract.
It might be difficult to get a club that will pay Joseph Yobo the wages he is currently earning at the Istanbul club.
The leadership of Fenerbahce plans to sit down with the ex Everton man for roundtable discussions and both parties would mutually terminate the contract binding them if talks are successful.
In the ongoing summer transfer market, the central defender has been linked with Super League rivals Sivasspor and Kayseri Erciyesspor.
