Published: April 19, 2024Athletic Bilbao U19 winger Elijah Gift has been rewarded with a second call-up to Spain's U18 national team, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Manager Paco Gallardo has chosen the Liverpool academy product to participate in the upcoming international friendly double-header against Switzerland in Madrid next week.
Gift qualifies to represent three countries at international level, having been born in Corella, Spain to a Cuban mother and Nigerian father.
The 17-year-old, who ended his six-year association with Liverpool last summer, has impressed at his new club Athletic Bilbao, and this has earned him another invitation to Spain's U18s.
He made his debut for the age group in a friendly against Italy back in January, coming of the bench to replace Pablo López in the 58th minute.
For now, the tri-national forward is not provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth as he has not played any competitive matches for their youth teams.
Gift was named in Spain's provisional squad for the 2023 European U17 Championship but was not selected in the final squad.
The Spanish U18 National Team are scheduled to face Switzerland in a double header on April 23 and 25 at the Las Rozas Football City.
The Spanish-Nigerian-Cuban player is expected to link up with Spain U18s early next week and will return to his club on Thursday, April 25.
