John Ogu Plays Down Injury Fears
Published: April 08, 2013Académica midfielder John Ugochukwu Ogu has played down fears that he is injured and may be unavailable for the Super Eagles quick - fire games in the summer against Mexico, Kenya, Namibia as well as matches in the Fifa Confederations Cup.
John Ogu was omitted by manager Pedro Emmanuel for Sunday's Primeira Liga clash with Gil Vicente raising concerns that his left knee injury could be serious.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, John Ogu said: ''I did not sprain my knee. I just got a knock after the Sporting game (on March 9th, ed). And that was before I even came to the Super Eagles camp two weeks ago.
''I am concerned of the injury, it is swollen. But that is not stopping me from training at all. I trained till Saturday last week. Just want to visit a specialist to know the extent of injury.
''Hopefully, I will be fine and ready for the upcoming games in June.''
24 - year - old John Ogu made his international debut against Kenya last month in a World Cup qualifying fixture.
