3SC, CRIN Clash In Champions League
Published: March 10, 2013The ancient Olubadan Stadium will be agog again when the 3SC team ‘B’ now known as 3SC Starlet confront CRIN FC in the opening match of this year’s edition of Afe Babalola Champions League Tourney slated for Tuesday, March 12th.
Both teams are among the 16 teams that qualified to play the glamour-laden soccer fiesta from the pool of clubsides that featured in the 914 matches Ibadan Football Association (IFA) League 2011/2012 season.
A press statement signed by the head of communication and strategy unit of IFA, Folorunsho Oyelakin disclosed that while the 3SC/CRIN match comes up at 4:pm, earlier at 2:pm, highly rated Immigration FC will tackle the high-scoring Olagoke Rocks FC.
The statement also explained that the competition sponsored by the respected legal luminary and the Pillar of sport in Ibadanland, Aare Afe Babalola SAN would feature 24 matches in its first round and four matches in the quarter finals, two matches in the semi and two in the final.
Other exciting fixtures in the first round of the tourney include FRIN FC against Liberty Boys, Oke-Ado United versus Diamond FC and Marvelous FC against Wasiu Taiwo on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th at 2:pm and 4:pm respectively.
The Chairman of IFA, Alhaji Banji Akintayo has also expressed his appreciation to the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti for his unwavering support towards the development of grassroots football in south/west region of the nation which has had larger influence on Nigeria as whole.
IFA boss however called on all lovers of grassroots soccer to come and enjoy it at its best at Olubadan Stadium during the period of the big annual football show that always produces a champion for their soccer season.
