Zambia Lose To Tanzania In Friendly
Published: December 23, 2012Zambia on Saturday completed the first phase of preparations for the 2013 AFCON with a 1 – 0 loss to Tanzania in a game the champions dominated but were unlucky not to score after they hit the post twice and were denied a genuine penalty appeal
Zambia started the match on the front foot with Chamanga hitting the upright and Chris failing to convert the rebound but quickly lost their pace as the home team started to dominate in midfield with quick counter attacks which the Zambian midfield and defence was failing to cope with especially with the pace of Ngasa as Tanzania replied with a header off the bar.
Chisamba Lungu had a tough time to keep up with the runners in his left back position but it was veteran Chintu Kampamba who was being out paced in the centre of defence with Hichani having had to bail him out on some occassions.
Tanzania’s counter attacks finally paid off in the last minute after Chintu gave Ngansa space to run towards the box to shoot home for a goal.
Herev Renard rang changes in the second half which saw Stopilla Sunzu come in for Hichani, Kasonde for Nathan, Mukuka Mulenga for Isaac Chansa, Evans Kangwa for Chris Katongo and Tindi Mwanza for Chamanga which allowed player if the day Rodrick Kabwe push up from a left back position which he handled well.
The changes only stabilised Zambia’s play but they failed to convert chances despite some beautiful play on both flanks with Felix missing a point blank chance moments after he was denied a genuine penalty appeal.
