Guangzhou R&F Set To Unveil YAKUBU AIYEGBENI Next Week
Published: June 30, 2012
Blackburn Rovers have officially announced the transition of Yakubu Aiyegbeni to Chinese club Guangzhou R&F. According to the official website, the Nigeria international has 'reportedly' signed a three-year contract.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Blackburn Rovers Player Of the Season for the 2011 - 2012 campaign, had medical examinations at the Guangzhou Zhujiang Hospital between the hours of 10:00am to 12pm on Thursday, June 28th.
Those test results won't be out until next week. Until Guangzhou R&F get green-light from their medical team, Yakubu Aiyegbeni won't be unveiled as a player of the ambitious CSL outfit. But his transfer is 99% complete according to club officials.
The 29-year-old forward who scored over 100 goals in his sojourn in England told Chinese media that he chose to join Guangzhou R&F because his wife has several business interests in China, so he should not be unfamiliar with the town.
''My body is in good shape, I am every day in the gym training. When I join the R&F, I will be able to quickly restore to the best condition,'' Yakubu was quoted as saying by Netease.
The financial details of Yakubu's transfer to Guangzhou R&F were not disclosed. It is understood he would earn $10 million annually in wages and bonuses.
