OROK AKARANDUT Speaks On Bahrain Experience
Published: June 18, 2012
Orok Akarandut etched his name in the annals of Nigerian soccer by equaling the 19-yearold record of Iwuanyanwu Nationale’s (now Heartland) Ishaya Jatau by winning the top scorer’s award with 17 goals in 2009 season.
Now plying his trade in the Bahrain Premier League with Al-Najma, Orok Akarandut has shared his thoughts on his sojourn in the oil rich kingdom.
He told the National Mirror: ''Every league has its peculiarities and differences, and in Bahrain, it was completely a different ball game. When I arrived, Al- Najma were second from bottom in the log but at the end of the day, we not only escaped relegation, but were able to finish fourth.''
Adds Akarandut : ''Playing in Bahrain was a phase in life for me, at least, if playing in Bahrain is mentioned, I would have something to say. One thing that fascinated me about the opening was the fact that I went there to sign a contract and not to attend a trial.''
On loan at Al-Najma from Tunisian club Tunisian club CS Sfax, the 25-year-old former Enyimba man is now a free agent.
