Nigeria Beat Rwanda, Through To Third Round Of Qualifiers
Published: June 16, 2012
After painfully missing out of the 2012 Edition of the African Cup of Nations, the Super Eagles are on course to qualify for the next edition of the tournament holding in South Africa.
On Saturday in Calabar, the Super Eagles defeated the Wasps of Rwanda by 2-0 to progress to the third round of the qualifiers.
Stephen Keshi and his charges have been less prolific in recent months. But it took Ikechukwu Uche only nine minutes to register his 17th international goal in 38 appearances.
After the restart, CSKA Moscow winger Ahmed Musa added a second goal for the Eagles.
''It was very important that we won this game. This will improve the confidence in the team,'' Eagles substantive skipper Joseph Yobo, who was absent after failing to recover from injury, said in his post match comments.
