KAZEEM AHMED: Hodd Will Bounce Back
Published: June 03, 2012
Hodd FC were one of the candidates tipped for promotion before the start of the season. But after two wins from nine matches, the Norwegian first division side are instead fighting for survival.
Allnigeriasoccer.com contacted the Nigerian wing wizard of Hodd FC, Kazeem Ahmed to share his thoughts on the poor form of the Ulsteinvik based club.
''I'm going to say that is unbelievable that we are having such an horrendous season so far but football like we all know is full of bizarre twist and surprises. We had a very bad start losing our first game of the season at home and I guess that's the genesis of our problem this season.
''Losing such games usually sends a wrong signal to everyone in the team and i presume we are victims of that situation. The confidence level in the team is quite abysmal at the moment simply because we have lost so many games and that cannot be written off when a team is in this situation as peevishness is beginning to set in,'' says Kazeem Ahmed to allnigeriasoccer.com.
The 23-year-old midfielder remains positive Hodd can get their season back on track despite a false start. On Sunday, what a relief for Coach Lars Nilsen and his charges. In the tenth round of matches, Hodd hammered Hamarkameratene 5-0.
''Though it seems very tough right now but I have this staunch belief that we will bounce back. We will do everything we can to re-ignite that fire of victory that was burning last season because this is just a temporary and surmountable setback which I strongly believe we will overcome pretty soon,'' Kazeem, who speaks very good English, added.
On teammate, Nonso Lala, a promising player tipped for great things in future, the former Turkey based player said: ''He is just coming to Europe, and it's quite unfortunate that we are having this horrible moment now as that might be having a resentful impact on him but I don't think he has been bad because most debutants from Africa find it difficult in the beginning.
''Nonso has scored 2 goals with a couple of assists and I would say that's not bad because the difference between the Norwegian football and our local league is vast and the coaches here feels he needs time to adapt and adopt to the system, thus he has started a few games. I believe he is going to get better because he is really a prodigious talent who has a lot to offer both Hodd and Nigeria at large.''
