NWANKWO KANU Demands 380,000 Euros Compo From Pompey
Published: June 03, 2012
Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu wants to quit League 1 side Portsmouth, and is demanding that the club pays the full amount of his wages in the final year of his contract. That compensation figure is thought to be around 380,000 euros.
''The club is in the players’ hands. On one hand, them agreeing to defer wages gave the club a lifeline – but at the same time they need to take big cuts in the long term to enable it to survive.
''The ones we are having problems with are Kanu and Ben Haim. You cannot strike a deal with them. Kanu’s agent wants the full amount and at the moment he is going nowhere,'' Administrator of Pompey, Trevor Birch, told British media.
The 35-year-old ex Ajax Amsterdam hero has spent six seasons at Fratton Park, scoring 20 goals in 143 appearances.
