Leeds boss hails versatility, attitude of Nigerian utility player who can operate in eleven roles

Speaking at a press conference on Friday before his side's Championship clash with Preston North End, Leeds United manager Daniel Farke praised Lausanne-born Nigerian player Isaac Schmidt for his versatility and attitude.
The 25-year-old joined Leeds United on deadline day last summer, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal to end his association with St. Gallen.
Apart from his country of birth, Schmidt is also eligible to represent the Super Eagles through his mother and Germany through his father.
Switzerland are in the driver's seat right now for his services, with the all-rounder featuring twice in friendlies against Northern Ireland and Luxembourg last month.
According to Transfermarkt, Schmidt can operate in eleven roles: right-back, right winger, right midfield, left midfield, left-back, left winger, central midfield, centre-forward, attacking midfield, defensive midfield and second striker.
Despite his versatility, he has struggled for game time since his move to Elland Road, making nine appearances off the bench in the Championship and started two games in the FA Cup.
"I'm m not surprised — he’s played in several different positions," Farke was quoted as saying by Leeds Live.
The German coach admitted it has been tough for Schmidt to break into the starting lineup, especially after arriving without prior experience in English football.
"What I like about Isaac is lots of competition, Firpo is playing outstanding, Bogle the same.
"It's a joke that Byram who has good points per game doesn't play. It's tough for Isaac.
"He came after not playing in English football. He needed to adapt but longer with us longer he impressed. I like his attitude."
