Musa scores, Obi-Martin brace of assists as Man Utd extend winning start to U18 PL season
Published: November 02, 2024Victor Musa bagged a goal while Chido Obi-Martin bagged two assists in Manchester United's 8-0 bashing of Leeds United in the U18 Premier League fixture, played on Saturday afternoon at Leeds United training ground.
The Red Devils have now extended their winning start to the U18 Premier League season, with twenty four points accumulated from eight matches in the division.
James Scanlon gave Manchester United the lead in the 10th minute, volleying the ball home after Leeds United United goalkeeper Cameron Byrne-Hughes had parried it.
Musa could have doubled the lead four minutes later but was denied by Byrne-Hughes, and the honour of getting the second fell to Bendito Mantato, who slid the ball in from Scanlon's cross.
Bendito would then earn a penalty in the 36th minute and the Anglo-Nigerian forward stepped up to convert it for his second goal of the season.
Amir Ibragimov added to the Manchester United tally before the end of the first half, and Scanlon grabbed the fifth two minutes after the restart.
Musa was taken off on the hour mark and was replaced by Obi-Martin, who grabbed a hat-trick on his full debut last week.
The Danish-Nigerian striker had the opportunity to get on the scoresheet not long after he came on, as he fired a shot towards the goal post but Ibragimov made sure he had a touch of the ball before it went into the net.
Ibragimov was then second time lucky to get his hat-trick in the 75th minute, as Samuel Lusale's cross was pushed towards his feet by Byrne-Hughes.
A minute later, Obi-Martin was denied again from netting for the second consecutive game, as his effort was parried away for Scanlon to put the ball into an open net.
The 16-year-old would be hurt by not scoring, but he recorded two assists, which has taken his tally to three goals and two assists in three games for Manchester United in the U18 Premier League this term.
